From Meena’s decked-out dining room table, draped in purple spiderweb lace, Holly smiled over at the Jaws-inspired photo shoot.

“Holly!” Batman had a higher voice than in the movies.

When she tilted her head to take in the grayish-blue eyes and thin lips in the black-horned mask, her braids moved: one up, one down.

“Cute costume,” he said, sidling closer.

She shifted her weight away from him.
